Matthew Close

Matthew Close is a director with Baker Tilly in the private equity solutions practice. His professional background of more than 25 years spans investments, operations and finance across private equity, investment banking, media, technology and professional services. His breadth of experience building businesses and industry exposure across business sectors uniquely positions him as a Value Architect™ to private equity firms and their portfolio companies.

Matt's transaction experience includes control investments, rollups, carve-outs, complex capital structures, M&A, and capital sourcing for private and public companies. His operational experience includes corporate strategy, financial planning and analysis, channel management, customer success and partner development.

Matt leverages his experience to deeply understand each client’s business objectives so he can architect solutions, coordinate services and manage continuity across Baker Tilly services teams.

Before joining Baker Tilly, Matt was a principal and founding manager at a private equity firm where he helped build a 26-brand digital media platform and raise $400 million of capital. In this role, Matt built and managed M&A, corporate finance, integrations and capital sourcing operations. His experience coordinating cross-functional teams to execute high-profile initiatives for investment partners, operators, board members and investors was key to the firm’s success — ultimately attracting a $300 million capital commitment from one of the world’s largest alternative asset managers in 2022.
